What We Ate In Taiwan, Part 9 - Danzai Noodles in Tainan City

Danzai noodles are a signature dish in Taiwan and Tainan City is the specific home of this dish.  Consequently the Signet/Supera tour took us to lunch at the flagship store of Du Hsiao Yueh, the leading purveyor of Danzai noodles.  The noodles are a little bit on the thicker and oily side, and are topped with a traditional single shrimp.  This topping includes eggs and ground pork, also.

I don't recall eating Danzai noodles back home, but I really didn't see anything exceptional about this item.  The other lunch items were good and interesting.  This sticky rice was an excellent dish.

Nice to see yam leaves on the menu, as they are relatively uncommon, at least in California.

Here's the stir fried eel.

Crispy shrimp rolls were interesting too.

And while this may look like dessert it's actually fried tofu with a dipping sauce.

So great that Supera/Signet tours (www.superatours.com) took us to the flagship locations of both Din Tai Fung and Du Hsiao Yueh
